An English Course Represented Me to Translate an Essay

English is an international language, and it has been widely used in our daily life. As a student, it is very important for us to master English well. Therefore, when I was asked to translate an essay in an English course, I felt very excited and uneasy at the same time.

The essay I was assigned to translate was written by a famous American writer, and it was about his understanding and experience of the English language. In the process of translation, I encountered many difficulties. First of all, the writer’s language was very sophisticated and abstract. It was hard for me to understand the main points of the essay. Secondly, when it comes to the grammar, the writer used some complex structures which confused me a lot. For example, there were many subordinate clauses and abstract nouns which made it hard for me to get a clear picture of the essay. Thirdly, the writer also used some cultural terms and idioms which were difficult for me to understand. All these made the translation process very difficult.

However, I was determined to complete the task. I started by breaking down the essay into small parts and then worked on each part step by step. I read the essay several times and tried to get a general understanding of it. Then I looked up the difficult vocabulary and grammar points in the dictionary and studied them carefully. When I encountered terms related to American culture, I did some research on the Internet to make sure I understood them correctly.

The translation process was very hard and time-consuming, but I managed to finish it. I was really proud of myself for completing the task successfully. While translating the essay, I not only improved my English skills, but also learned a lot from the writer’s experience. From then on, I was more motivated to study English and to explore this language further.
